Exhibición Artista Local Todos Santos No. 1
LO NADA PASA
Emiliano Morris

T
he event of nothing
is the unfillable
is the whale
beneath a red moon that never quite falls
the laughter that can’t be heard
from so far away
The event of nothing is the neighbors next door
the ones you think you ignore
is fire
the night crossed by satellites
only the air
your thoughts
your ghost
brown butterflies
habit
The event of nothing
what flies
what runs
what crawls
and what swims free
and nothing more
the fog that covers the sheet metal
the desert fog in March
The event of nothing is the invisible
The event of nothing is the trivial
a town made of imagined towns
and then
it’s no longer enough to say it
something remains
outside the sentence
refusing form
it is not
it doesn’t fully become
and still
it insists
that
watching you
this abyss
that looks back at you
is the unfillable
is the whale

At the new location of Otra cosa sin nombre in Todos Santos, Lo nada pasa, an exhibition by Emiliano Morris Hernández-Campbell, inaugurates the gallery’s first show dedicated to a local artist. The exhibition brings together previous works alongside pieces created specifically for this space, marking a convergence between trajectories: that of the artist and that of the gallery in its new territory.
Born in Guadalajara in 2001 and shaped across Mexico, the United States, France, and China, Morris develops in his work open-ended fictions in which characters, beasts, and ambiguous presences inhabit landscapes that evoke the Western figurative tradition while simultaneously fracturing it. Windows, cracks, and thresholds interrupt the scene and suggest other possible spaces, as if the painting itself were uncertain of its surface.
